Conversation Heart Soap

This Valentine's Day, get creative with the ever so useful and practical gift of soap.  Not just any soap (because that would be plain boring) but soap displaying a special message for your love.  It's quick and easy, and totally personalized.  You'll need some letter cookie cutters in addition to the usual soap supplies from the craft store including two types of soap- clear high temp, and opaque.  A dash of imagination to come up with some clever phrases and you have yourself an unforgettable V-day present.
U can say a lot in a few letters...
Melt clear high temperature soap in a glass container. 1 minute in the microwave did the trick here.

Add red soap dye.

Pour into a shallow container, like the lid of a tupperware with a lip.

Cut letters with your cookie cutters.

Get the little ones involved, they love this project.

Place letters in the mold backwards.

Pour a layer of clear soap to seal the letters in place.  This step is a little tricky because you want the soap to be cool enough that it doesn't melt the letters but still flowing.

Cut up some opaque soap.

Melt and add color.

They call this mellow yellow.

Pour the next layer and let cool!
